How does Emface work?
Emface combines synchronised radiofrequency with HIFES (high intensity focused electrical stimulation), delivering the two technologies at the same time. Synchronised RF remodels and smooths the skin by heating the dermis and increasing the levels of collagen and elastin fibres, while HIFES works by restoring and elevating facial tissues by selectively contracting muscles and increasing the density and quality of muscle structure. It’s a hands-free treatment, meaning that the energy is delivered through sticker-type ‘paddles’ applied to the face and wired up to the device.
What are the benefits of Emface? Does it work?
Emface is designed to smooth wrinkles, tone the facial muscles, and lift the skin. BTL has nine clinical studies proving the treatment’s efficacy and safety. In these, Emface showed an average increase in collagen by 26%, twice the amount of elastin in the tissue, a 30% increase in resting muscle tone, a reduction in wrinkles by 37% and 23% more lift.
What’s the difference between Emface and radiofrequency?
While Emface does incorporate radiofrequency to tighten skin and improve its firmness, it delivers different results than radiofrequency alone. That’s because it also uses HIFES technology to target the facial structure on a deeper level – all the way down to the muscles – by putting them through a sort of workout, forcing them into strengthening contractions that lead to a better supported facial structure. Standalone radiofrequency treatments – of which there any many, with slightly different modes of delivery and USPs – may be able to achieve slightly elevated results on skin laxity, and, if you want it, can sometimes also be used to reduce subcutaneous fat, for example in the jowls. So, while radiofrequency alone can get great results for the right candidate, Emface brings an additional, proven technology into the mix for those looking for something different.
What does HIFES do?
HIFES triggers contractions in the muscle tissue that lead to protein synthesis and tissue renewal, strengthening the muscles and improving their structure for more defined facial contours. While this is happening, Emface’s radiofrequency is heating the skin’s tissues to stimulate an increase in fibroblast activity, creating new collagen and elastin fibres to further lift the skin and reduce wrinkles.
Who can have Emface?
Emface is suitable for anyone wanting to reduce wrinkles and achieve a lifted face. may be a candidate for Emface. A course of treatments can also be done as a preventative ageing measure for younger patients who don’t have deep-set or visible wrinkles by working on the deeper facial layers.
What happens during an Emface treatment?
An Emface treatment is very straightforward. The face is cleansed before the applicators are applied over the forehead and cheeks for 20 minutes. During the treatment you feel muscle contractions along with a heating sensation, which BTL says is comparable to hot stone massage. And that’s it – done and no downtime.
How long does it take to see results from Emface?
Everyone has four 20-minute treatments spaced 5-10 days apart. The brand says optimal results are usually reported in 90 days after the last session and continue to improve for several weeks following the treatment.
Can I have Emface if I have toxin or fillers
Yes, if you’ve previously been treated with toxin and/or fillers you can still have Emface, though it’s advised to wait 1-3 weeks after being treated with toxin and 3-6 months after being treated with fillers before you have your first Emface treatment. Your practitioner will be able to put together the right treatment plan for you.
