Going to this new clinic that use hyaluronic acid that contain lidocaine. What’s your opinion on this and is it a good filler to use?

Hi, you don’t mention which brand of filler this is – but a great many fillers now contain lidocaine which is an anaesthetic, so it is usually a great idea as the procedure more comfortable as the filler is slowly injected into your face.

Do treatments that target and rejuvenate collagen also melt fat?

Hi, great question. The short answer is that energy-based treatments that use, say, ultrasound or radiofrequency energy can do this, if the energy that is meant to be directed at the collagen-layer in the skin is aimed instead into the fat that lies underneath the skin. Take a look at this article for more detail on the way that RF needling can in some circumstances, melt fat – which is great if this is done deliberately because you want fat reduction in the face, but not so good if it happens by accident.

The key thing is to find a practitioner who has enough expertise to use the treatment appropriately for your face and skin, so that you get the results that you want – and not the ones that you don’t.

Does rf radiofrequency make a big difference to look of skin

Radiofrequency and RF microneedling can both be effective tweakments, if you are the right candidate.

With any aesthetic treatment, the results will vary from one patient to another. To get the best results for yourself, make sure you choose an experienced practitioner who can identify the most suitable treatment for you and then implement it skilfully.

Hi, I’d like to buy Alice’s book Tweakments Guide, however will it be outdated now given the speed of new developments in the industry? Does she revise new editions?

Hello – both of Alice’s book, Start with Skincare and Fresher Face discuss the fundamentals of skincare and tweakments. As the books have been published for a while, they will not cover more recent developments in the industry, but they are great starter books for those who are new to this area.

Is ultracel 2 worth doing? I’m confused as I’ve seen it’s hifu with ultrasound but then at another clinic seen it’s with radio frequency? Are they the same thing, are they safe and do they work and worth the money?

ULTRAcel is a non-surgical skin-tightening treatment that uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to treat concerns including a sagging brow, forehead wrinkles and nasolabial folds.

The difference between radiofrequency and HIFU is that radiofrequency is a type of energy derived from radio waves whereas HIFU is a type of treatment that uses ultrasound waves.

We have an article all about ultrasound treatments which you can read here.

Whilst any treatment has their risks, it is always important to find an experienced practitioner who can minimise that risk factor. Find a good practitioner in your area who can properly discuss your concerns and offer further advice.
